At the European Tour's season opener, the rain-shortened Nelson Mandela Championship, Jamieson won on the second hole of a sudden-death playoff to secure his first professional victory.
Highlighting Jamieson's bag was the new Nike VR_S Covert Tour driver. Last week marked only the fourth time he's used it in competition. The new driver has made a statement in the industry with its eye-catching appearance, cavity back design, FlexLoft adjustability system, and NexCor face.
Jamieson's previous club testing with his new Nike VR_S Covert driver revealed that he gained seven yards in carry distance.
He almost secured his win outright when on his final hole he drove the green on the 305-yard par 4 ninth, just missing his eagle putt. Jamieson is the first Nike athlete to win with the VR_S Covert driver.
Jamieson also used the Nike VR Pro Combo irons, Nike VR Pro Limited 3-wood, Nike VR_S hybrid, Nike VR Pro wedges, the Nike Method Core Drone putter and a new prototype Nike 20XI golf ball.
On the Asian Tour, Nike athlete Schwartzel blistered the field, winning the Thailand Golf Championship by 11 strokes. Leading from start to finish, Schwartzel posted four rounds in the 60's. It was his first victory since last year's Masters. Schwartzel also won using a full bag of clubs from Nike's VR Pro Line, as well as a Nike Method putter.
Both Nike athletes wore Nike Golf apparel and Nike Golf Lunar control footwear.
