One of the seven is completely waterproof, so small electronic items can be stashed away safely regardless of the weather conditions, and another is perfect for drinks: insulated, with a drainage hole, you can be sure that your refreshments will stay cool. A lined valuables pocket will protect your phone, wallet and watch, and a detachable ball pocket can be used as a practice ball holder.
The whole bag weighs in at just 5.5lb, which is exceptionally light as carry/stand bags go. It's constructed to a very high standard, using top quality materials and the same standard of zippers as on previous models - all of which are also water resistant. Durable nylon, vinyl and neoprene ensure that this bag will be sturdy and comfortable, as well as extremely lightweight and strong.
The internal frame, which incorporates the six internal dividers for storing and organising your clubs, is really clever: it helps to tighten and reinforce the construction of the bag, which means that your clubs stay well-protected. This tightening of the main body also makes sure that the clubs stay properly separated, so that it's always easy to remove and replace your clubs. A compression-moulded putter well is incorporated into the design too, so that the club that you use most frequently is easily accessible and stays protected.
When it comes to transporting the bag, a retractable strap system and dual sliding straps make carrying all your equipment around the course relatively simple. The internal frame also allows the legs to retract tightly away so they don't get in the way when not in use - but when you do need them, the double-bend Mantis legs offer great support on the ground.
We loved how lightweight and streamlined this bag was - although you can carry around everything you need for a day's golf in its many pockets and compartments, it doesn't ever feel too cumbersome or awkward. The cushioned hip pad means that even after a full round of golf, the bag still feels comfortable as ever to carry, and the straps were really easy to fit well so that the bag sat snug against your back. Similar to many other Ping bags, it easily fits on a cart too thanks to the lack of any external feet sticking out, which makes it a really versatile bag to suit any course.
The stand was impressive, as it was really stable and sturdy even in windy conditions - we tested the bag out on a really blustery day and found that it stayed upright the whole time, which is something that many lesser stand bags cannot manage. In terms of ease of use, the main body of the bag did a great job of keeping our clubs separated - we never once had a problem with grips getting tangled up together, so the bag design is very successful on that front, too. Overall, a really big achievement by Ping, and a very versatile and well designed carry bag.
