Review: FootJoy WeatherSof Glove 2012

Written by  Andrew Wild on Saturday, 07 January 2012

Durability is one of the most important things to look for in any new golf glove. Here we review FootJoy's new WeatherSof Glove for 2012, one of the most durable on the market

.
Last year's version of the glove was heralded for being long-lasting and offering fantastic performance. With their new glove design, FootJoy have only improved upon a classic.

Crafted from FibreSof material and cabretta leather, the WeatherSof glove feels incredibly soft and comfortable from the moment you first pick it up. FootJoy claim that it is the most advanced microfibre glove in the world, and it certainly feels as though it could be when you first try it on.

The FibreSof material on the back of the glove allows it to flex to fit your hand perfectly, while the PowerNet mesh around the base of the thumb is designed to stretch for added comfort.

These materials lend other important functionality, allowing enough airflow for ventilation and controlling the moisture levels inside the glove.

In practice, the WeatherSof glove felt incredibly comfortable to wear, easily conforming to the shape of the hand but feeling flexible enough to allow for an unhindered swing. This was true in both warmer and cooler temperatures, and the ventilation system did a good job of keeping our hand cool too - this truly is a glove that can be used all year round.

Another important factor that needs to be considered is the grip, and we were pleased to find that it held out extremely well in this area. The cabretta leather ensures that your grip stays firm, and its durability ensures that it will last through the season too.

However, wet weather can render the grip a little less reliable, so this is worth bearing in mind if you think you might be caught out in the rain.

Overall, this is an excellent glove and well worth the money. It performs excellently in most weathers, making it the perfect addition to your golf kit.

What the Web is Saying

"Again and again, durability accounts for the WeatherSof's high rating. Reviewers say the microfiber material holds up well, particularly in the palm. Most of the wear on a golf glove occurs in the palm, especially among high-handicap golfers." - consumersearch.com
