Review: TaylorMade Burner Glove

Written by  Andrew Wild on Saturday, 26 November 2011
We review the TaylorMade Burner glove, a popular model on the course and certainly excellent value for money.

Crafted from micro-fibre synthetic leather, the Burner glove features cabretta leather inserts in the palm and thumb - the areas that are likely to sustain the most wear. The aim here is to increase the durability of the glove, and while it certainly felt incredibly comfortable and soft we found that these areas did wear quicker than we would expect with regular use.

However, this was mitigated by the flexibility and fit of the glove, which felt excellent in all weathers. The breathable fabric wicks moisture away from the skin, allowing your hand to keep cool in warmer temperatures, but we were most impressed by how it handled rain. The grip didn't feel at all lessened in damper conditions, which is great news for this time of year.

Generally a lower price means a compromise on quality, and the Burner glove is no exception here. This isn't a high-end product, but it does function well and, for the price, you certainly won't feel cheated. Even though it may not last as long as other models, we would be more than happy to use TaylorMade's Burner glove regularly for its flexibility, grip, and very attractive price.

We would advise potential customers to try the glove on first if possible, however. The sizes tended to come up a little small, so if you're not sure then order a size up to be certain of a good fit. Also bear in mind that, due to the materials the glove is made from, it will stretch with use, so a slightly tight fit to begin with may stretch to fit better after a couple of rounds. The Velcro tab does go some way to ensuring a correct fit, but this shouldn't be relied upon if the glove doesn't fit well to begin with.

Overall, this is a good glove for the price and a solid contender if you're shopping around for something new. Its performance in all weathers is excellent, and it certainly looks the part on the course with its stylish design.
