Under Armour is not yet a household name, but it soon will be. In recent years the brand with the distinctive 'X' logo has made a huge impact at the highest level of many sports thanks to their high performance clothing. And golf has not been unaffected.
Under Armour ColdGear trousers are designed to keep golfers warm, dry and comfortable, and they succeed on all fronts. They are thermal, water repellent and while they are 91% nylon, they use Under Armour's moisture transport system to draw moisture away from the skin. On top of that, they have a very nice lightweight feel.
Going round the course with them on a chilly day, we really felt the benefit. The poly inner meant that heat was retained within the trousers, keeping the cold weather out, but there was none of the sweatiness or discomfort you often get with man-made materials. The water-repellent finish on the stretched woven fabric material also stood up to our tests.
As well as impressive physical performance, Under Armour's ColdGear golf trousers offer plenty in the looks and convenience departments. Available in graphite or black, they look stylish, with subtle branding and belt loops for a spot of accessorising, and there are two pockets to the front and two to the rear, so you'll have plenty of storage for a golf glove, markers, tees and a golf card.
Freezing mornings aren't enough to put many golfers off but even the biggest fans of winter golf would struggle with the sub-zero temperatures that have been the norm across the UK and Europe in the past week or so. A pair of Under Armour ColdGear trousers and some similarly effective cold weather gear for the upper body would have them reconsidering, though, and they come highly recommended.
