Review: Mizuno MX700 Hot Metal Ladies Driver

Written by  James Davis on Tuesday, 09 August 2011

The key to playing well is confidence and the key to confidence is great clubs. With this in mind, we review the Mizuno Golf MX700 Hot Metal Ladies Driver.

Mizuno has been producing sportswear and sports equipment for 100 years and golf clubs since 1933, so they have had plenty of time to perfect their technologies. We found, and have no doubt you will too, that this most definitely comes across in the MX700 Hot Metal Ladies Driver.

What really makes this driver shine is the Ti9 plasma wielded club face - designed to improve driving distance, stability, and feedback. This technology produces a club with a wider head shape, giving an extremely low and deep centre of gravity and a centrally positioned sweet spot. The result is a beautifully forgiving club that helps you get the ball exactly where you want it.

The MX700 reacted well to off centre strikes thanks to its larger geometry, in fact, we noticed that even if you somehow manage to hit outside the sweet spot, the effect is by no means detrimental. In all, we were amazed at how much longer and straighter our drives were. Lady golfers with a mid to high handicap will benefit hugely from the consistency of performance this club offers.

A vibration dampening internal hull gives the driver a superb feel and nice crisp sound on impact. This hull has been reinforced, giving you more power on every strike of the ball, while the lightweight Exsar DS4 Graphite Shaft allows for greater swing speeds. Basically, it has everything you need to send your golf ball flying down the fairway.

In our opinion this driver is not really suitable for golfers with a low handicap. The more experienced golfers out there are likely to be disappointed in its lack of workability. However if you are looking for a game improvement club, the MX700 would be an ideal choice.

We think that Mizuno has created a beautiful and confidence-inspiring driver. It sits well at address and has an appealing traditional design. It's all that any golfer could hope for in a club, and is reasonably priced too.

What the Web is Saying

"This driver is an awesome piece of kit...The Hot metal Ti-9 titanium face and reinforced hull gives a solid sound to Mizuno's most forgiving, high MOI performance driver." - todaysgolfer.co.uk

"This driver exudes confidence at address...Mizuno has traditionally catered to the more accomplished player. Until now. In the case of the Mizuno MX-700, they broke the mold by offering the recreational player a nice high launch, low spin driver that will be sure to fare well." - golfshaftpro.com

"The Mizuno MX-700 driver is a very good driver. It will be a particularly good fit for players who drive the ball straight or fade it off the tee. Those players with a low launch will find plenty of help in the MX-700." - thesandtrap.com
