The 2011 model of this was really popular here, especially with good players for custom fitting. But Titleist have made some wonderful advancements with this, primarily through their multi-material design club head.
This club head enables you to have a much higher performance ball flight with much better stability. It looks incredible from the top line, it feels great, and most importantly it sounds exceptionally good as well.
What Titleist have done with this model is to put in two tungsten weightings. That internal weighting is a much higher density tungsten, which gives you much more efficiency for the distribution of weight in the club head.
They've done this redistribution of weight without increasing the overall blade length of the golf club, which is really important when you want to keep the look, and it's also important when you want to get really good moment of inertia. That produces much more constant ball speeds off the club head, leaving some much better distance control and much more workability in your shot making.
I'm a massive fan of this club. I'm going to hit a few shots and then give some feedback.
Well it didn't disappoint today. I've previously reviewed the AP1 iron which is great, but for a playing standard in single figures, low teens, and even professional standard players will find that this golf club is so much nicer. It looks incredible, and I think it hits the ball so sweetly with quite a bit of forgiveness still.
So for all of you out there who are Titleist lovers and have been following their golf clubs for years, get yourselves in for a custom fit on this model for 2012 - it's a real cracker.
What The Web is Saying
"The AP2 irons are a great set and well worth a test if you are as Titliest say, a serious golfer, whatever your handicap." - golfalot.com
