I truly believe that this product will give you more good shots, more good memories, and more reasons to get out on the golf course.

Let's start off by talking about why this fairway wood is so good.

On this club I'll start with the base. There are some grooved out sections, and in fact Yonex have been able to reduce the amount that the sole of this club touches the ground by thirty per cent, compared to their previous models. That's a massive amount, and what that means is that the club will be completely uninterrupted when you swing through the shot.

This means that there's no way that the ground will influence a decrease in your club head speed. That's important, because we want to keep the club head speed to maintain the distance from the club. So this is a big factor: thirty per cent saving, less ground contact, more distance.

Moving to the actual club head construction, the main body of the club head and club face is made with a stainless steel precision casting, and on the crown on the club head it's made with Yonex carbon intensity graphite. This allows Yonex to reduce the amount of weight they use on the crown of the golf club, and therefore reduce the spin rate.

In order then to maintain an optimum launch angle, in the back of the club head is an inner weight distribution point, which will lower the centre of gravity giving a nice high launch angle through all the fairway woods.

This club is available in the three wood, five wood, and a seven wood, and it also comes with the standard Yonex Nanospeed 200 graphite shaft. For any of you who have seen my previous Yonex product reviews, you'll know that this includes a high elastomer titanium strand construction right at the kick point where the shaft flexes, giving you extra kickback into the ball and more power. But the main ingredient here is that you don't sacrifice the distance or direction. So maximum distance and perfect accuracy too.

I'm going to head to the driving range and have a few whacks with it and see how it goes. I've got the three wood here to trial today and I'll come back and tell you exactly what I think of it.

That was really enjoyable, especially off the tee. A reasonable sized club head, but off the tee it was absolutely fantastic. Really easy to hit, and very powerful. I have to say, it really wasn't that far behind how far I usually hit my driver, so I think it's going to give the TaylorMade RocketBallz fairway wood a run or its money this year. It certainly does pack a punch.

I think though, personally, you'll find the five and seven wood a lot easier to hit off the ground, but for those of you wanting a powerful fairway wood, the three for the tee shots was brilliant.

I've hit the Nanospeed shaft plenty of times in different products, and it's a really great shaft - it really does power into the ball and it does do exactly what it says on the tin.

So for those of you who want a powerful fairway wood for your tee shots, or for your fairway shots, definitely don't go out and do anything without having a hit with the Yonex SD fairway wood range.
