Interview: Neil Sagebiel from Armchair Golf Blog

Written by  Paul Gibbons on Friday, 06 May 2011
Neil Sagebiel is the Armchair Golfer and editor of Armchair Golf Blog. He talks to Leaderboard about his golf bucket list and how it is the hardest sport he's ever played.

How did you get into golf?

Through my father at the age of 12. I was a baseball player who caught golf fever. I put away my baseball glove and ended up playing four years of high school golf and one year at my local community college.

If you had to name one thing about golf you love the most, what would it be?

I love that it’s a consuming challenge at every level of the game, from beginner to tour player. It’s the hardest sport I’ve ever played.

What has been your favourite golfing moment personally?

As a player, being a low medalist at a high school tournament and breaking 70 on a few occasions. That was a long time ago. Now that I’m older, it doesn’t get much better than playing with my father, especially since we live on opposite coasts.

What has been your favourite professional golfing moment?

That’s tough. I don’t know that I can narrow it down to one. This year’s Masters was a thrill to watch. I’ve been to a handful of majors, including the Ryder Cup in Louisville. I need to get to The Open Championship. That’s on my golf bucket list. When I do, that just might top the list.

How did you get into blogging?

I got into blogging in 2005 because I’m a full-time freelance writer and I wanted to see what blogging was about. It was an experiment that got out of hand. There have been many surprises along the way.

What makes a good golf blog?

If there’s a common denominator, I think it’s that good golf blogs are interesting or entertaining. All in different ways, of course, but people want to read them and keep coming back for more.

Do you follow any golfers and golf fanatics on Twitter?

I follow many of the tour pros, as well as golf media and enthusiasts, about 900 total at the moment.

What are your golfing and blogging goals for 2011?

Play more golf than last year. As for blogging, keep it fun.

Following my investigation, billions of people on our planet get the credit loans at different banks. Therefore, there's a good chance to receive a commercial loan in any country.
