In what was a bogey-free round, Woods shot a six-under-par 66, taking him into Sunday on 11-under-par, level with England's Robert Rock, who birdied the last two holes to match the former world number one's score and total.
"I was just kind of consistent today," Woods said. "I didn't do a whole lot wrong, I didn't do a whole lot right. I was just kind of methodically moving my way around the golf course and six birdies piled up."
The pair have a two-stroke lead over a chasing pack that includes Rory McIlroy, who has played with Woods for three days running in this tournament. McIlroy shot a 68 and is now tied for third with Scotland's Paul Lawrie (68), Italian Francesco Molinari (66) and Swede Peter Hanson, who carded the best round of the day, an eight-under 64.
Halfway leader Thorbjorn Olesen fell back into joint seventh with a 71, and is now three shots off the leaders alongside George Coetzee (65), James Kingston (67), and Jean-Baptiste Gonnet (69).
