A day after perfectly still conditions contributed to a slew of low scores, Mother Nature bit back, with a scoreboard on the Palmer Private course being sent into a lake near the 18th and 10th.
Wilson had completed 15 holes when he was called off the La Quinta course, three strokes ahead of fellow halfway-leader Ben Crane, who was two-under through 12, also on La Quinta.
"I think they made the right call," said Wilson. "You don't want to see anyone get hurt."
David Toms had started the day tied with Wilson and Crane but had a torrid time, going one over through 11, thanks in part to a double bogey 6 on the 10th at the Palmer Private course.
Toms was an exception to the rule, as scoring remained impressive, testament to the benign course conditions on the three courses where the tournament takes place.
Robert Garrigus was 9 under through 13 on the Nicklaus Private course, while on the same course Zach Johnson went six-under through 13 to move to 17 under, four shots back of Wilson.
The third round will resume on Sunday morning.
