Video Tutorial: The Basics of Golf

Written by  Neal Granville on Friday, 10 June 2011
Neal Granville presents lesson one on the basics of golf - the best place to start if you're a beginner to the game.

The idea of golf is to get from A to B, starting on the tee. If we can get the ball to go forwards and through the air, we can get to the green and the target much quicker.

Once the ball's come off the tee, it should hopefully be on the fairway, as my ball is here. Now, my job is to get the ball into the air, and try and stop it on the green.

So, we're on the green, and the final part is to get the ball into the hole. The flag can come out because the ball's on the green. We mark the ball and line it up - for more information on rules and etiquette you can keep watching leaderboard tv - and we can see if we can get it in.

On to the next hole!
