So the 17th April 2011 was a big day for me. I ticked off an ambition that has been on my list since I was about 12. I ran the London Marathon and have the medal to prove it.

Some of you may have read my previous blog "Preparing for the Rose Thistle Challenge" so I thought I should follow up and tell you about the trip.

Just a few weeks ago my wife Jennifer and I invited our niece Chloe, her husband Steve and their two young daughters Lilly and Poppy to be our guests on a skiing holiday to Klosters in Switzerland.

At this time of year we Spring Forward; a quaint phrase that someone once coined referring to the advent of British Summertime. I would say that they dreamed it up, but they probably weren't in bed long enough.

As I write this blog my hamstring and calf muscles are unbearably tight but still I am contemplating going out for a run. Maybe it's because I'm becoming addicted to it?

Here at Leaderboard, we’ve been working long and hard to get our website up and running over the last couple of months.

When James Cornish - the Director of Golf at Chart Hills - came to me with an idea to set up a performance centre, I confess that I just thought it was a posh name for a golf academy - it sounded a little bit like a tuning service for sports cars.

I started jogging seven years ago following a late night party when a friends wife challenged me to a four mile race the following morning. Being slightly the worst for wear and not particularly bright I accepted the challenge.

Well it’s been a really busy and exciting start to the year. The weather so far has been wet but fairly mild; a far cry from the snow and freezing temperatures we experienced last January and February.

There have been some impressive new and innovative products released onto the market already this year and our custom-fitting team have been kept very busy and booked up.

One notably popular product has been the Taylor Made R11 Driver with its cool looking white head.

March has also seen the launch of the new Leaderboard Improvement Centre, with coaching of the highest level offered to juniors/ adults and beginners/professionals alike.

We’ve only just entered 2011 and yet so many amazing and exciting things have happened. One can only imagine what spring will bring!

Round about this time of year my wife and I leave behind the snow, ice, fog and incessant rain and head off to a historic European city for a long weekend, to be greeted by identical weather.

We have had a few unexpected expenses of late, so when the missus said “let’s go Dutch” I was overcome by her generosity, as the future bill was immediately halved in my consciousness.

However, what she meant in fact was that we should visit the lowlands of Holland, which is how we ended up in Amsterdam.
