Review: Benross Quad White Driver

Benross Golf's Quad White series has been designed to be usable clubs that provide performance as well as simplicity. We review the Benross Quad White driver here.

After countless years of technological improvements, who would have thought that the latest advance would come with changing the colour of the club head? It seems simple, and some might consider it a fad, but it helps make the Quad White driver a great club to have on the tee.

With the white head, alignment is easy and so is focussing on the impact area. This in turn means shots are better and will travel further. The confidence gained from having such a helpful club produces consistent results, especially for lower level golfers for who getting off the tee can be a bit of a lottery.

The Quad White driver's benefits are not restricted to a better address, though. Weight has been kept low in the large 460cc head, and a low centre of gravity makes for a naturally high trajectory that carries longer.

The club is tremendously forgiving to boot. The club head is quite wide, and the sweet spot is extended by exaggerated weighting in the four corners of the club face. Shots that are slightly off centre still get the benefit from the club's excellent ability to achieve length.

The club head's MOI, the resistance it has to twisting mid swing, is high thanks to the centre of gravity being further back, towards the middle of the head. It would be a stable club whatever the shaft it was attached to, but Benross has seen fit to attach it to what is probably the most stable shaft in golf, the Aldila White Voodoo hi-launch graphite shaft.

This shaft is used by some of the best professionals in the game. Not only does it give a high launch, to complement the club head itself, but it comes with an internal rib, which keeps it stiffer, on line, and transfers the most amount of energy into impact, aiding distance to boot.

On the down side, the club will never win any prizes for looks, nor will the head cover for that matter, and the 460cc head is massive. On that note, make sure you give it a go before buying as you need to be sure you are comfortable swinging a club that big. If you are however, we are sure you will soon come to love the benefits.
