Review: Callaway Big Bertha Diablo Driver

Written by  James Davis on Wednesday, 13 April 2011

Callaway's Big Bertha Diablo has a 100% titanium head, designed to help players square the club on impact – offering maximum forgiveness for the most aggressive swings.

Bringing power and distance to your drives the Big Bertha Diablo uses Hyperbolic Face Technology helping to increase the size of the sweet spot and making it almost impossible to slice or hook the ball.

The club's fiery red finish is certainly going to stand out on the course as you achieve long and penetrating drives.

Not only does the Diablo help produce incredible distance off the tee the way the club sits at address also ensures incredible accuracy.

While unconventionally shaped, the Diablo's distinct looks will not be to everyone's taste but the definitive thud this driver makes on impact is one of the most reassuring sounds in golf.

Described by Callaway as ideal for those golfers who like 'To give it a rip,' the Diablo is available in 8,9,10,11, and 13 lofts and in neutral and draw versions.

Big Bertha is one of the most successful series of drivers in the history of the game and the Diablo is Callaway's 19th reincarnation of the product.

The Diablo really does make the most out of whatever you give it.

What the Web is Saying

"The way the eye-catching Diablo sits at address suggests it has been designed for maximum forgiveness, and our testing undoubtedly backed this up. For those who struggle with a slice, even the neutral version encouraged an in-to-out swing path and the draw version should definitely help straighten things up." - golf-monthly.co.uk

"Undeniably all-titanium in sound and feel. The flight of the ball is relatively low (I hit 10-degree Neutral and Draw with stiff-shafted clubs) and penetrating. It is, perhaps, not the ideal club with which to work the ball both ways, but it certainly generates impressive ball-speed and distance." - golfmagic.com

"The Callaway Big Bertha Diablo should do very well, especially for the aspiring recreational player. The driver will provide distance and control off the tee." - golfgearselect.com

"The Diablo driver certainly looks striking and Callaway have delivered on their promise of a club with an ultra modern feel. At address the head shape may appeal to some more than others, but we really liked it." - golfalot.com

"If you're looking for a long driver that is also considerably forgiving, then this is definitely a club worth looking at." Which-golf-clubs-for-you.com
