Video Review: TaylorMade R11 Driver

Written by  Graham Green on Thursday, 03 March 2011
PGA Professional, Graham Green, reviews TaylorMade's R11 Driver whose three main features can significantly alter the way you hit the ball.

Hi guys, my name’s Graham Green and today I’m going to do a product review for the new TaylorMade R11 Driver

Now this driver has lots of great features, but there’s three primary features that make this an absolute cracker.

The first thing which I am going to explain to you is the Flight Control Technology. Here, using the key, we can actually remove the club head and turn it around on its hosal giving us a plus or minus one degree loft change, so a 10.5 driver can become a 9.5 driver, or an 11.5 driver.

Also you’ll see here with the red part of the golf club is the adjustable Sole Plate technology. Here, with the same key, we can take that unit off and change it to a neutral, open or closed setting, and that can change the face angle by two degrees closed or two degrees open.

Like its predecessor, the R9 and the R7, it’s also got the moveable weight technology – one ten-gram weight and one one-gram weight, again, by positioning either in the heel we can create a draw-biased flight or a neutral flight.

When you do change any of these aspects in the golf club head we can make a massive change to the ball direction by up to 100’s of yards of side directional change and also by changing the loft angle we can move the ball spin rate from 1000 revolutions per minute, which is massive.

If we look at the shaft that it’s got, it comes as standard with the Blur Fujikura 60g shaft – a real top end shaft – a pretty good one for most of you lower handicappers.

In the club head you’ll see it’s got the non-glare finish – the white finish which has become very popular if you watch a lot of golf on telly, with the black face to help alignment.

The aerodynamics have been improved somewhat over the R9 and the aerodynamics alone allow the ball to travel up to six yards further.

So a great product, it’s one of our best sellers at the moment and I would say it’s going to be a real winner for those aspiring players from low teens into single figures – a brilliant driver.
