Accounting for some 50% of the shots you play making the right decision can be difficult.
The Odyssey Protype PT82 is a limited edition putter based on the Gamer model that Phil Mickelson used when he won at the Augusta National last year.
Less than 3,000 of these putters are available through authorised Callaway retailers in the US, with further limited numbers available through selected international retailers.
The Protype PT82 features:
• White Ice Insert: This insert in the club face is designed to produce enhanced sound and responsiveness. Insert putters have often lacked the sound feedback so vital to good putting, but with the White Ice insert it is almost as good as an all metal putter. The insert was developed with extensive feedback from players on the professional tour and ensures consistency and responsiveness
• Milled Tungsten Insert: Placed behind the face to ensure precise weight and feel
• Classic styling: The blade has a single sightline that runs the entire way across the face to the back flange to help players align their shots for better and more consistent accuracy
While difficult to get hold of the Protype PT82 by Odyssey features a White Ice insert weighted with perfectly balanced tungsten sitting behind it, and in addition has a clearly visible single sightline across the club head.
If you are looking for a putter that can really improve your game then this could well be the choice for you. As Phil Mickelson says: "Tournaments are won or lost on the green, which is why I rely on Odyssey technology."
In fact with this putter the weight balance is so good it almost feels like an extension of your arm, although some players may prefer a slightly heavier club.
For those who take their golf seriously this putter can help you feel and play like a pro and can really lower the number of shots you take on the greens. For the more social golfer it is hard to say whether it is worth the investment, but if you want to have one club in your bag to keep your score respectable this could be the one for you.
What the Web is Saying
"As just another gamer for your weekend golf, it's hard to say that this putter is worth the investment. But for Mickelson fans who want a commemorative keepsake, or who simply want to mimic his putting style right down to the stick itself, it's an intriguing item." - putterzone.com
"Is it worth spending the extra cash? When you get right down to it, making putts comes down to operator control – you, how you align your putter and how you make your stroke – whether you are using this product, or not." - golfholiday.com
