Top Ten Golf Course Restaurants

18 holes can really build up an appetite and after a round of golf, there really is no better way to relax than to sit down to a decent meal and maybe a drink. Fortunately a lot of golf courses have their own restaurants so you can refuel and end a great game with a great meal. Excluding Leaderboard's courses, we count down 10 of the best that you might like to visit.

10. The Manor Restaurant at Foxhills

The Manor House certainly spoils you for choice, with lunch buffets, set menus and a steak menu. The food is impressive and the menu changes on a monthly basis so there is always something new to try.

9. Lough Erner Resort

This beautiful, award-winning hotel has a stunning menu to match. In fact last year at the Irish Restaurant Awards the resort won in the category of Best Chef. The resort boasts several restaurants to appeal to all tastes and places great importance on finding the perfect wine to accompany your meal.

8. The 1906 Restaurant at Turnberry Resort

The 1906 takes its name from the year it was opened and has prided itself on its quality ever since. Taking advantage of its location by the ocean, the 1906 offers a wide range of locally sourced fish and takes great care in providing the finest meals while remaining environmentally friendly. The food and the surroundings really combine for an unforgettable experience.

7. The Long Room at Doonbeg Lodge

With experts on hand to advise you, you will almost certainly find the perfect wine on their impressive list to suit your meal, but of course it is the food that provides the main attraction. Offering a wide selection of international dishes, all made with love and presented by dedicated staff, the Long Room is a prime example of Irish hospitality at its best.

6. Auberge Du Lac Restaurant at Brocket Hall

Boasting a place in the Michelin Guide, which it has held onto confidently for three years, Auberge du Lac describes itself as a culinary delight and rightly so. Combining the finest French cuisine with an English twist, the result is a unique experience provided by professionals who display a real love for their craft, which is passed on to you in the form of their excellent food and service.

5. Stapleford Park

Whether you desire an informal meal from the house menu or fine dining in two AA Rosette Grinling Gibbons restaurant, all tastes are accounted for here. Offering the finest gourmet food, they also offer a tantalising cheese board to follow your meal with a choice selection from England and France.

4. The Grove

You can relax after a round of golf in the Stables Bar before heading to the Colette's Restaurant, recently awarded three AA Rosettes. Informally formal, the relaxing atmosphere complements the dining experience as you are served the finest in modern cosmopolitan cuisine. The chefs create each dish with a real attention to detail, creating a miniature masterpiece of flavour every time.

3. The Road Hole Restaurant at the Old Course Hotel

There are several restaurants to choose from at the Old Course Hotel but if you only choose one it should be the award-winning Road Hole Restaurant. Using only the finest, carefully selected Scottish ingredients, they offer an eight-course tasting menu complete with a selection of fine wines and champagnes. The scenery is as stunning as you would expect and it all adds up to an unforgettable dining experience.

2. Manor House

Boasting the best of British food, it is hard to argue with them. The proud owner of a Michelin Star, the Manor House really does show off the best food our country has to offer. Sourcing their ingredients from Wiltshire and the South West area, this is authentic, old fashioned British cooking at its absolute finest.

1. Gleneagles

It seems only fitting that one of the UK's greatest golf resorts should have a restaurant to match. With a few to choose from, the Andrew Fairlie Restaurant should be your first choice with its stunning interior design, art and of course, food. Two Michelin Stars have been earned through their efforts as they combine French cuisine with Scottish sensibilities, including locally grown herbs, to create a unique meal every time that captures the best of both worlds.
