Written on Tuesday, 13 September 2011

Every year sees new technologies in the world of golf and this year has been no different. Whether it's drivers, putters, golf shoes, or training aids, the golf industry has been hard at work with their advances in designs and materials. Here is our list of the top ten golf products out this year.

Number one TaylorMade_R11_Driver TaylorMade R11 Driver  Crammed full of technology, the TaylorMade R11 Driver is undoubtedly the star of 2011. With Flight Control Technology (FCT), an Adjustable Sole Plate (ASP) allowing you to change the face angle, and Moveable Weight Technology (MWT) for adjustment of the centre of gravity, it’s had many a golfer’s pulse racing.
Number two Garmin_Approach_S1_GPS_Wristwatch Garmin Approach S1 GPS Wristwatch  This is a GPS device that keeps things simple. It gives golfers accurate distances to the front, back, and middle of greens. It will also measure individual shot distances, calculates the distance walked during a day of golf, and comes pre-loaded with nearly 5,000 European golf courses.
Number three TaylorMade_Ghost_Putter TaylorMade Ghost Putter  The TaylorMade Ghost Putter series has been a memorable introduction to the retail market this year. With a white head that stands out on the green and contrasting black alignment lines, not to mention Pure Roll Technology for improved forward spin, this is a must have putter.
Number four Callaway_Diablo_Octane_Black_Driver Callaway Diablo Black Octane Driver  Callaway teamed up with Lamborghini to develop the material used in the Diablo Black Octane Driver. Constructed from Forged Composite, this club is light, forgiving, and produces some impressive swing speeds.
Number five Ecco_Biom_Golf_Shoe Ecco Biom Golf Shoe  Following on from the success Ecco had last year with their Golf Street Premiere Shoe, 2011 saw the launch of the Ecco Biom Golf Shoe. It has oodles of technology, making it one of the best golf shoes on the market.
Number six Nike_VR_Pro_Hybrid Nike VR Pro Hybrid  Sales of hybrid clubs have soared recently and in many pro-shops have overtaken putters as the top sellers. Part of the Nike VR range, the Pro Hybrid has Full Channel Compression Technology and variable face thickness which increases speed for greater distance and control.
Number seven Momentus_Golf_Speed_Whoosh Momentus Golf Speed Whoosh  A fantastic training aid, the Momentus Golf Speed Whoosh will help golfers of any handicap to increase their swing speed and gain more distance. It weighs the same as a standard driver but swings 20mph faster. When you swing, you’ll hear the ‘whoosh’ right after the impact zone and after a bit of practice, you’ll notice your tee shots carrying further.
Number eight Srixon_Z_Star_Golf_Ball Srixon Z Star Golf Ball  The Srixon Z Star Golf Balls benefit from a super soft elastomer urethane cover that produces consistent spin control (even from the rough), and improved aerodynamics for a penetrating ball flight. These are great golf balls for the low to mid handicapper and a popular choice in 2011.
Number nine Cobra_Golf_S3_Pro_Irons Cobra Golf S3 Pro Irons  The Cobra Golf S3 Pro Irons were launched this year to much acclaim. Designed for the more accomplished golfer, the set comprises of long and mid cavity back irons and short muscle back irons.
Number ten Softspike_Cyclone_Golf_Cleats Softspike Cyclone Golf Cleats Golf cleats aren’t usually something to get excited about, but the Softspike Cyclone Cleats are different. They have six curved prongs, designed to improve traction. Three of the prongs are slightly longer; reducing pressure on the cleat and helping them last longer.
