Top Ten: Rescue Clubs

Written on Wednesday, 28 September 2011

Rescue clubs are specifically designed for shots where you want the distance of a fairway wood with the capability to stop the ball like you can with an iron. See our Top Ten Rescue Clubs here.

The Leaderboard team has tried and tested what’s available on the market to and come up with our top ten, to help you get out of those sticky situations.

Number one TaylorMade_Burner_SuperFast_2.0_Rescue TaylorMade Golf Burner 2.0 Rescue WoodThis club was the most effective out on the course in every way. The longest, most accurate and most versatile of all the rescue clubs with the best alignment aids; we cannot recommend the Taylor Made Burner 2.0 Rescue Club enough. Review to follow soon.
Number two Mizuno_MX700_Hybrid Mizuno Golf MX-700 Hot Metal Hybrid  This light-weight club performs incredibly around the course. It competes well with the Burner 2.0 Rescue wood. Aesthetically it’s unmatched. In terms of performance, it’s one of our favourites and works well for players of all standards. We have reviewed the Mizuno MX700 Hot Metal Hybrid ladies version.
Number three ping_g10 Ping G10  This club was arguably the most forgiving club of the bunch. We found this to be one of the most workable clubs too, allowing incredible control with almost any type of shot. Again, this club is great for players of any handicap.
Number four Callaway_Diablo_Edge_Hybrid Callaway Diablo Edge Hybrid  We really enjoyed trying out the Diablo Edge Hybrid. It has reassuring looks and is lightweight but gives a real feeling of control on connection. The club ensures incredible consistency due to its large sweet spot. We would also recommend having a look at the Callaway RAZR Tour hybrid which we have reviewed here.
Number five TaylorMade_Rescue_2011 TaylorMade Rescue 2011  This compact rescue club is another absolute gem from TaylorMade. The excellent alignment aids and sleek aesthetics mean you’re getting a club that’s as good to look at as it is to hit. Also, the smaller head is a nice feature for those who don’t like bulkier styles.
Number six taylor_made_burner_rescue_club TaylorMade Burner Rescue Perfect for mid level handicappers, the original burner rescue club works very well around the course. This club was a real hit on release and still stands up well to competition. We think that the overall performance of this club is excellent for the price.
Number seven cleveland-golf-mashie-hybrid Cleveland Golf Mashie Hybrid The Cleveland Mashie Hybrid club mixes classic styling with the latest technology. It really does enable you to go long. This is probably the longest hitting of all the top 10 rescue clubs, but it is versatile too. The Miyazaki shaft is utilised to perfection giving you a real sense of control and connection.
Number eight Nike_Golf_SQ_Machspeed_Hybrid Nike Golf SQ Machspeed Hybrid We found that this was the club that was most widely appreciated by mid to high handicappers. The square shaped head gives you a real sense of assurance when you align the club. It goes long and gives you a sense of control. A very interesting club, if not a little ugly.
Number nine Cobra_Golf_Baffler_Rail_H_Hybrid Cobra Golf Baffler Rail-H Hybrid The Cobra baffler Rail Hybrid is the smoothest club off the deck. We found that our shots were gliding off the surface with minimal resistance. If you’re looking for a club that keeps your confidence up and provides you with a real sense of control, the Rail-H is an excellent choice.
Number ten Nike_Golf_VR_Pro_Tour_Hybrid Nike Golf VR Pro Tour Hybrid The VR Pro Tour Hybrid really does get you some extra distance. Nike claim that it has a 21% hotter face than previous models. All we know is, it is exceptionally consistent and it provides you with great shots nearly every time.
